Global synth connecting geospatial sounds

Tapping into every sound generated by musicians around the globe. An interactive electronic instrument installation that allows users to synthesize 'environmental sounds' from across the world. The synthesizer is comprised of dozens of modules from Moog and other module makers, and laid out in an approximation of the global map. The cabinet is beautifully crafted in wood, containing the modules and several speakers. The various modules, aglow with light and humming with sound, are connected via patch cables, evoking the network of undersea cables that constitutes the Internet’s circulatory system. Crowdsourced sound art in a divers global spectrum.

Neon Drums Series

Neon portals and ladders of light in acoustic drums. While these works picks up on the minimalists' reduction to simple geometric structures, serial reproduction, and the use of industrially produced music instruments, it imbues these elements with social references. Alluded to great American minimal and concept artists such as Dan Flavin or Dan Graham, an integral aspect of this works is the references to recent Chilean history: the military junta of Augusto Pinochet. The light flowing through his sculptures and mirror works can be read both as a metaphor for enlightenment and as one for economic and political power wielded in democratic and totalitarian systems to regulate and control all kinds of energies, be they financial, electricity, goods, or information.

'Atmosphere for Enjoyment' Exhibition: Harry Bertoia’s Environment for Sound

From May 3 to September 25, 2016, the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC presents two exhibitions focused on Harry Bertoia (1915–1978). Referred to collectively as 'Sonambient, these sculptures are interactive, kinetic, and audible forms consisting of bundles of metal rods that collide and set off radiant tones when agitated by wind or human touch. In his Pennsylvania barn, he recorded approximately 400 tapes, eventually producing eleven LPs with titles such as 'Phosphorescence' and 'Ocean Mysteries'.

Soft Revolvers

A music performance for four acryl spinning tops. Each spinning top, 10’ in diameter, is associated with an ‘instrument’ or part in an electronic music composition. Gyroscopes and accelerometers communicate with a computer where the motion data is collected (speed, instability, acceleration, etc.) which is used for a music algorithm. LEDs placed inside the tops illuminate the body of the objects in counterpoint to the music. A camera placed above the performance table provides a video projection behind the artist, as an integral part of the performance. The behaviour of the objects adds unpredictability and makes each performance unique. #MyriamBleau #SoundArt #PerformanceArt #SpinningTop #Turntabllism #MusicPerformance #ContemporaryArt #DJ #HipHop #ElectronicMusic #VideoArt

Resulting in a sonic arrangement featuring seventy zebra finches, electric guitars, amplifiers and cymbals. Seventy songbirds fill a room littered with 14 electric guitars on stands. As the birds perch on the strings of the guitars, they create a cacophonous song of pre-recorded rock, punk and heavy-metal chords.
